Czech Airlines’ (ČSA) new winter flight schedule comes into force at the end of October.
The company is increasing the frequency of flights, especially to destinations in Eastern Europe. After years of significant expansion, ČSA will focus primarily on stabilising the capacity offered, and on increasing the number of flights to promising destinations. The winter flight schedule will apply from 29 October 2006 to 24 March 2007.
Compared to the 2005/06 winter flight schedule, ČSA will offer, from October 2006 to March 2007, additional flights to Moscow, Yekaterinburg, Odessa, Tallinn, Vilnius, Sofia, Sarajevo, Ljubljana, Zagreb, and Bucharest. ČSA will fly to Moscow – Sheremetyevo Airport twice daily. New morning flights will be added on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Four flights per week will be added to Zagreb, three to Ljubljana, and one to Bucharest, Sofia, and Tallinn.
In addition to Eastern Europe, ČSA will also enhance other routes which are in high demand. Four flights a week will be added to Athens, two to Stockholm and Istanbul, and five to Bologna. Increased flight frequency can also be expected on the Oslo, Hamburg, Munich, and Milan routes. ČSA will operate new Airbus 320 aircraft, with greater seat capacity, on its flights to Madrid, Helsinki, and London – Heathrow.
In terms of long-haul flights, the number of ČSA flights to New York, JFK Airport, will be the same as in the 2005/2006 winter schedule. ČSA service to the US is offered daily. ČSA will also fly to its Canadian destinations, Toronto and Montreal, with the same frequency as last winter – three weekly flights.
In terms of charter flights, ČSA will offer its traditional winter destinations, such as Varadero, Cuba; La Isla Margarita, Venezuela; and La Romana, in the Dominican Republic. In Egypt, ČSA charter flights will land in Hurghada, Sharm El Sheik, and Taba.
With its winter time-table, ČSA will discontinue its service to Luxembourg and, from 8 January, also to Edinburgh and Cork. By cancelling certain less effective routes, ČSA will free up flight capacity to be used to add flights to destinations where increased demand has been noted.
For the winter season, ČSA is offering the so-called Dynamic Packages. On the ČSA website, or in the ČSA Airtours travel agency, passengers will now be able to book flight tickets together with hotel accommodation. Only one reservation form needs to be completed, for ordering both services. The total price for the two services purchased in the form of a Dynamic Package will also be lower. In the future, in addition to tickets and accommodation, ČSA is also considering including in the package car rental, insurance, and other services.
This winter season, ČSA will fly to 72 destinations in 43 countries. Overall, ČSA is planning over 14,000 flights, from 29 October 2006 to 24 March 2007.

In January 2006, Czech Airlines also won the “Best Airline in Eastern Europe” Award (the Annual GT Tested Awards) for a second year running. ČSA was also on the shortlist of the eight best world airlines in 2005.
